To All our Sponsors Thank You so much your donations are always a great help especially this year, we start looking for 2010 sponsors now so if you would like to sponsor it starts from £35.00 for a class upwards just contact Pat or Ashleigh on secretary@simonswoodridingclub.4t.com
There are a lot of changes for next year the biggest being Prizemoney in the Jumping ring
to keep inline with other shows.
If anyone has a shed they don't want not too big and would like to donate it so we can have a proper jumping box please feel free.
The Fun classes have been totally re-organised with some new suggestions added and will now be with the Equitation & Workers using up just 4 rings which will all be in view of every spectator so no-one will miss a class, although I have to say considering we didn't have a P.A system this year only 1 person missed their class, the office will now also be next to the Catering van (yum yum) so any queries can be handled easier.
Heights and Riders ages have been altered slightly in some classes and unfortunately we took the decision to drop classes that have been very poorly supported in favour of others.
I know the committee has big plans for next year and can't wait for the Pre-Season show.

Firstly on behalf of Simonswood Riding Club I would like to thank Yvonne and Steve from Asmall for their amazing kindness in preparing the showground and facilities for us before every show. Also Robin one of the liveries who kindly harrows and rolls the fields.
We started the season with a pre-season show, which was very well attended and we managed to raise enough money to build 2 new courses of jumps then buy poles. We would also like to thank Laffack Riding Club for donating so many of their old jumping cups. As many of you will know we started this season with ansolutely nothing after leaving our previous showground due to it being for sale at the time. A huge thanks for the support from sompetitors and sponsors we are now better than ever.
Our members have said how much they have enjoyed the show and love the new showground which is a positive step forward into 2010. We have held qualifiers for various events and all our members have been successful at PUK, R.H.I.S and HOYS.
Next year we will hold the usual club qualifiers plus the county ones so if you want anything included tell us at the presentation. Our championship show in August saw Ingrid Reids beautiful coloured stallion Woody III become supreme champion and also took the members championship. The Reid family travel all the way from
Some classes are unfortunately going to be dropped next year through poor entries, we always give classes a chance but there are others people have asked for that will replace them.
There will be a pre-season show again early in 2010
The annual presentation is on Saturday 3rd October 2009 and is held at the usual place. Anyone who has been placed in the points will receive their trophies at the presentation.
Please call Pat 0151 259 9047 or Ashleigh 07854581401 if you need tickets.

Congratulations to Louise Reilly & Captain Pugwash III. SUPREME OF DAY 1 & RESERVE SUPREME OF SHOW AT THE SUMMER FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION!!
GOOD LUCK AT HOYS!
From all at Simonswood Riding Club
Dear competitor,
We decided to hold special championships at the June show. Well done to all who attended to compete for our Inhand and fun class championships and an extra well done to our champions and reserves. Inhand Champion Liz Service and Feldale Flash Harry and Reserve Inhand champion Steve Fowler and Ebony Star. The fun class championship was judged on a points system with sisters Bethany and Darcy Beard taking champions and Aaron Greenwood in reserve. We also held the Ridden Showing championships in July, congratulations to the champion Laura Ashcroft and Tamarind Fascination and reserve champion Louise Riley and Captain Pugwash III. Unfortunately we had to cancel the Show Jumping due to the weather so the Show Jumping and Workers/Equitation championships will now take place in September.
As always August is the month we hold our annual Championship show, this show again is sponsored by Ponies On Parade (www.poniesonparade.com) . We have Dog classes, Conqours De Elegance class (Juniors MUST be wearing the correctly fitted hard hat to the current BSI standard), ring championships, an exclusive member’s championship and the ultimate Supreme and Reserve supreme of show. If you would like to save time on the day and pre enter then please email secretary@simonswoodridingclub.4t.com. Non members welcome, entry fees £4 for members and £6 for non members. For the full schedule please see our website www.simonswoodridingclub.4t.com or call Pat or Ashleigh on the above numbers.
Well done to all our members who competed at Uk Showing we had some brilliant results! September will soon be here and so will the Interclub Challenge. At the minute we are unsure whether this will be an open show or a club challenge, however if you would like to represent the club then please call or email myself or Pat asap and we can sort out your classes. Classes are based on a first come first serve basis. You must however pay for all your classes on the 23rd August show as last year Interclub was turned into an open show at a late stage, as so many clubs hadn't got their entries in by the closing date. To help avoid this in 2009, let's try to get all our entries in sooner rather than later. The entry fees are £13 for Uk Showing members, £15 for non members, £8 for Uk Showing members classes 11-17 and £10 for non members classes 11-17. If you are a Uk Showing member, your membership number must be given.
All end of year perpetual trophies MUST be returned at the August show. Failure to do so will result in you having 10 points deducted from all your classes. If you are not attending the August show then please call Ashleigh or Pat on the above numbers to arrange dropping them off.
We unfortunately have had a complaint from the show ground manager about the main gate being left open. The gate is shut for a safety reason for both SRC competitors and Asmall Livery Yard. There is a big sign on the gate asking everyone to shut it behind, so there is no excuse for it being left open. Please shut the gate behind you.
Thanks and hope to see you at the next show.

To all competitors & spectators of Simonswood Riding Club.
We unfortunately have had a complaint from the show ground about the main gate being left open. The gate is shut for a safety reason for both SRC competitors and Asmall Livery Yard. There is a big sign on the gate asking everyone to shut it behind, so there is no excuse for it being left open.

We have decided that on Sunday in view of the weather we will not be running any Jumping or Working Hunter classes for safety reasons.
The showground itself is fine, good solid ground with parking on hard surface but it could be too slippy for the jumping classes so the Championship in the jumping ring will now be in September.
The Ridden Championship will still be held in Ring 1 Ridden Showing.
Inhand classes will run as normal.
Equitation & Fun classes will now be merged into the Equitation ring
If you want any info on the show just pm me
Our next show is on 28th June and has the following qualifiers:-
C.H.A.P.S
Veteren Horse Society
and.C.P.A
Equifest
plus
Festival Association
UK Showing
North West Show Jumping Championships
This month there will also be a special Inhand Championship
There will also be a Championship in the Fun Ring based on a points system because all these classes are different.
July will be Ridden Showing Championship & Show Jumping Championship
September will be Working Hunter / Equitation ring Championship

A Letter received from one of our members regarding the loss of jumps we have had due to moving showgrounds.
Can I ask all members and any non members if they would be willing to donate £5 each towards jumps and working hunter jumps. I know some of you will say you do not jump but come on its for the Club and we should all support Simonswood.
Pat, Ash and the team have worked really hard over the past few seasons and this year they are having more qualifiers than ever. Also they have found us a super new venue so come on guys put your hands in your pocket. I myself will be sending Pat a cheque for £20.
Regards Vida Wilson
19/01/2009
As most of you probably know Shady Acre was up for sale/rent. Pat & myself were at our wits end about what were we going to do regarding the show, would we cancel it or look for a new venue?
After lots of long deliberations and searching, we have finally found somewere.
Its around 10/15mins away form Shady Acre, has an indoor (were already planning a few pre-season shows and some winter dressage & show jumping ), hard standing to park on. This is all courtsey of the Cargill Familly.
Unfortunalty this means we do not have any jumps to use and will be desperatly trying to lease them or make some of our own as we cannot afford 2 full new sets as yet due to having to buy a new tanover system.
We also have a new member to our Comittee. Chris Froes, he will be in charge of the parking and setting up the jumps before and after the show.
Please welcome Chris on board & we hope you enjoy the new showground and continue to support SRC!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask and we look forward to your sugestions regarding some winter shows

The end of another season has come so quickly this year and we have braved some of the worst weather for a show season. There have been a lot of new members this year and we hope members old and new also non-competitors have had a really good season. Jenna took over running the jumping ring in April and has done a really excellent job; we introduced a few new classes and will improve on fillers and jumps themselves next year.
The Working Hunter ring has been awful, the Show Hunters and Ridden Cob/Riding Horse were poorly attended so both the Show Hunters and Cob/Riding Horse will be moved back to the inhand and ridden rings next year. The Working Hunter classes were so poorly attended that we will run them next season and if they don’t pick up we have no choice but to drop them all together, so if you want to keep them please enter and have a go.
The Equitation ring did quite well this year. The Fun classes moved into that ring last year and seem to compliment each other running alternately.
The Seniors were once again thin on the ground in the Ridden Showing ring so we need to do more to encourage more seniors for next year. Juniors on the other hand are doing extremely well, there are some lovely ponies about this year and some of our juniors have qualified for HOYS/RIHS/PUK and did really well there, so keep up the good work.
The inhand ring has seen some huge classes this year especially the Welsh and Young Handler classes, we have decided to split the Young Handler awards this year instead of waiting and splitting the class next year.
The Team Challenge was hotly contended all season with Bickerstaffe Hall Show Team coming out on top with a run away score of 152. Well done Jess Carney, Hannah Donnelly, Rachel Jackson & Charlotte Marshall.
The Presentation will be held on 25th October 2008 at St John’s Social Club, Sandiway, off Manor Farm Road, Huyton, Liverpool. If you need directions just ask. The tickets are £5.00 each and you can purchase them from either Pat or Ashleigh, but please ring first as we don’t always have them with us.
Pat -0151 259 9047 / Ashleigh – 07854581401
All there is left to say is we hope you enjoy the presentation and pick up lots of trophies and we will see you next year.

********* IMPORTANT NOTICE *********
There will be no Working Hunter classes at the 21st September show, they have not been well attended all year but in view of the weather the Equitation and Fun classes will be held in that ring.
All Working Hunter placings will stand as at the last show.
All Ridden Show Hunter / Show Cob classes will now take place in the Ridden Showing Ring 1 and all Show Hunter / Show Cob inhand classes will take place in the Inhand ring 3.
We don't want to mess Shady Acre's ground up anymore than necessary as there is still another LEC show to go and it is also used for their Grazing. We hope this doesn't cause any inconvenience for this month.

Anyone who has trophies from last year, could they please bring them back at the September show. If you will not be attending this please call 07854581401 to arrange a time for you to drop them off before the show.
I have just confirmed that our presentation will be on Saturday 25th Octover at St. Johns Social Club, Sandiway, off Manor Farm Road, Huyton. This has been brought forward this year so members are able to compete at the Winter Festival Of Champions at Aintree and not have to rush home to get there.
You can all start planning your outfits now.
